Local Agenda Watch

Privacy

Local Agenda Watch has no user accounts or on-site comments. Its application code does not include advertising trackers. Optional forms let you request coverage or subscribe to email updates about a project or place.

The hosting provider may process request information, such as IP addresses and browser details, to deliver and secure the site. Public planning records may contain information supplied to the city.

Address search sends the address you submit to the jurisdiction’s public address service and, if needed, the U.S. Census Geocoder. Local Agenda Watch does not save searched addresses in its database or application logs. Results are cached in your browser’s session storage for up to 24 hours. Map links may contain an address and coordinates in the query string or link fragment. Anyone you share a link with can see that location. Query strings may also appear in hosting request logs. The map basemap is provided by OpenFreeMap.

When you submit a coverage or interest form, we save the requested area, selected coordinates if provided, optional address/intersection/neighborhood, interests, email, request type and timestamp in our database. The location and interests you submit are private and visible only to authorized site administrators. A home address is not required; a neighborhood or nearby intersection is sufficient. Coverage requests and interest forms do not start email alerts. The last visited area is saved in browser local storage to personalize the homepage.

Correction reports save the project, your explanation, optional reply email, submission time and review status. Authorized administrators review them. For abuse prevention we keep a short-lived, salted hash of the submitting IP address in a separate hourly rate-limit record; the raw address is not saved in the corrections database. Contact privacy@localagendawatch.com for removal requests.

Home occupations, home daycares and permits on individual residences use block-level addresses and broad approximate map circles. We omit their document images and sensitive document titles. The official source remains linked.

Email subscriptions save your email, chosen project or place and radius, confirmation status, subscription dates, and the project state needed to detect changes in our database. We send a confirmation through Resend; updates begin only after you confirm. Confirmed subscriptions receive at most one daily digest when tracked projects change. Each email includes an unsubscribe link. For rate limiting, we store SHA-256 hashes of the requesting IP address and email in hourly or daily counters; raw IP addresses are not stored in those counters. Saved map views and places also remain in this browser’s local storage until you clear them; clearing browser data does not unsubscribe email alerts.

The share button copies a link on your device or opens your device’s sharing options. It does not submit contact details to Local Agenda Watch. Opening external maps, city portals or document links takes you to services with their own privacy policies.
